About FMPS
Friends of the Marblehead Public Schools (FMPS) is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization that raises money to fund grants that enrich students’ experience in the Marblehead Public Schools. By channeling private money into the public schools from grades pre-K through 12, FMPS supports projects and initiatives in athletics, the arts, curriculum development, student activities, and professional development.
Since 1991, FMPS has awarded more than $900,000 in grants. Many projects that received initial funding from FMPS have gone on to become self-sustaining “signature” programs, often mentioned by students as highlights of their experience in the school system. Money raised by the organization supports educational programs or events that would otherwise not be offered. Funds are not applied toward operating costs, routine supplies and texts, utilities, existing building and equipment maintenance, staff salaries and wages, or in support of school operational costs.
